WE HOSTED OUR FIRST COMMUNITY SOCIAL!

in the Princess Fairy Forest Classroom

On Saturday June 7 we welcomed parents and forest school students to our first Forest School Community Social in south Nanaimo's SEED neighbourhood  forest classroom. Forest school teachers, neighbours, board members and families enjoyed tasty potluck food, fruits and vegetables, live music by NFS teacher David Proctor (guitar) and community member Jesse Connor (cello), hammocks, swings, bubbles, art and colouring, and lots of wheelbarrow rides with Michael, planting trees and spreading mulch in one of our favourite forest school locations. On one of the hottest days this year we enjoyed the breeze and dappled sun through the leaves in this reclaimed blackberry patch next to the railway tracks, a beautiful affirmation of the value of tending green spaces in our communities. Thanks so much to all of our forest school families.

We hope to host another party similar to this for our AGM in the fall.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it a great day!
